take a moment to chat about mayo! Hellmann's was rocking it out with NFL quarterback Will Levis last year. The QB has since been surgically removed from the roster by the Titans and the mayo folks, both splitting from the condiment confident pocket passer. 

With their latest "Hail Mayo" commercial, the company opted for a know-nothing-about-football approach to serve up their latest CPM attraction. The contrast in commercials, both in messaging and production value, has me following my heart, waiting for them to crack a few more eggs and stir up a dip-worthy demonstration of marketing so that we can all once again want to  have what they're having.

When I hear myself say, "I want (fill in the blank)" I know it's time for me check in with the Universe and confirm that all of my needs are met and in fact exceed my expectations. Belly full, balls empty, sheltered and loved. Check, check, check and check. My wants cannot be allowed to wander off with my serenity, much less my sanity. Feeding the beast is not my best self. I want to be my best self today.

​I dig Dusty Slay. He's tabled up at one of my favorite places on the interstate to treat the need for sustenance, Cracker Barrel. What I want to know is, what's his table mate listening to? Is he wondering if chickens can swim or his he listening to the female voiceover or is he coming out of a tour bus party-induced haze wondering why he is at Cracker Barrel with Dusty Slay? I want to know. Maybe I'll go for a ride and rocking-chair-ponder on their porch while waiting for a table to fill up my belly.

the joke. Reading the NY TImes article on comedians and their crowd work vids. I'll keep my opinions out of the crowd work discussion aside from noting, ain't nobody better than Don Rickles, whose knack to talk at you,  about you is unmatched. Today Rick Ingraham and Ian Bagg set the bar. Their questions have answers and punchlines and purpose, all while keeping the 4th wall intact. 

I post Youtube shorts of my crowd chatter and will let you in on a secret. The same crowd comes to every show. That is the joke. Commenting on the crowd, whose pattern remains constant, brings the audience into the moment and gets the job done without their commentary. A silent partner, except their exhalation of laughter. Keep supporting live comedy, but know there is a reason for the stage, microphone and spotlight - so the comedian can provide patterns, purpose and punchlines!
